5 Tips for Keeping Your Bathroom Mold Free
- On May 5, 2017
Bathrooms are one of the most likely places for mold to grow, because of the moisture and wetness that are common there. Here are a few tips for keeping your bathroom mold free.
Air It Out
After showering or bathing, air out your bathroom and let it dry. Install a ceiling or wall fan so that you can easily ventilate your bathroom. If you have windows and the weather is warm and dry, open them wide. Make sure that the curtains are not crumpled together on one side of their rack, which will cause them to retain their moisture. Extend the curtains so that they can dry.
Clean Your Curtains
Curtains and plastic liners absorb the most moisture and are most likely to be a catalyst for mold, so make sure to clean them out often. Do the same for your floor rugs or carpets. Replace your plastic liner regularly.
Clean Your Bathroom Often
Cleaning your bathroom weekly will help prevent mold buildup. Wipe down your bathroom surfaces, such as glass panes and mirrors, toilets, sinks, and counters. Squeegee water off your shower walls to eliminate moisture.
Seal Your Grout Lines
Make sure to keep your grout lines sealed. Broken grout lines will allow moisture to gather between tiles and between your tub and the wall. Check for cracks regularly and apply grout when needed.
Check For Leaks
Leaking toilets and sinks will cause an increase of moisture in your bathroom. Check for leaks and repair them if there are any. In addition, don’t store skin care or soap bottles in your bathroom; they are magnets for mold buildup.
